Text, Video and Targeted Content

How much time do you spend on scripting your online videos?

If you are like most, you have an overall idea of the message you want to convey, hit record and start rambling on. But with the recent announcement by YouTube about Auto-Captioning, the words you speak in your video should be as well considered as the words you but on your webpage.

On my person blog I discuss the ramifications and likely future of video and SEO. In short, if you are taking the time to ensure your written content is littered with keywords, then your video needs the same attention. Well used web video reinforces and extends the same message that the web page has.

So next time you decide to do a quick YouTube clip about your product or service with your webcam, consider if it is going to help or hinder your brand.
Source: Text, Video and Targeted Content

Long Story Short - Music Video Launch

On the evening of Tuesday 2nd February the launch party for the Long Story Short, Never had a Tender Moment music video was held at Jaijaz.

Long Story Short were formed in 2008 & boasting a sound akin to trend du jour bands like Paramore. Comprised of John, Bronte, Dani, Jayden & Jasmine Long Story Short is a band that has been making waves among their peers. They're an eclectic bunch comprised of a London born surf lifesaver, Aussie ex-world medal winning gymnast, a sister duo who could rival The Veronica's & a home grown Auckland drummer. With their combination of catchy tunes, great vocals and killer looks, this band has been hitting all the right notes. They are extremely talented recently taking 2nd place at the North Shore Regional Rockquest finals & placing in the top 14 bands opening the National Finals for 2009.

Jaijaz have teamed up with Long Story Short, and have produced their first music video, Never had a tender Moment which was filmed on Bethels Beach in December 2009.

For Jai Ivarsson, General Manager of Jaijaz it is a dream come true. Jai developed the concept for Jaijaz in 1995 whilst studying jazz guitar at the Canberra School of Music. He believed that there was a better way for musicians to realise their dreams than by selling their souls to a record label, never making a career from their music. He believed there was a better way of doing things.

Jaijaz was eventually formed in 2002 and has focussed to date on supporting small businesses with this same philosophy. The Never had a Tender Moment music video is the first step into applying this philosophy to the music industry.

"It was awesome launching the video with the band and their friends and family" says Jai. "They were so fantastic to work with and its great to be teamed up with a band that has such potential."

With the launch deemed a success by all, Jaijaz is working with the Auckland School of Rock and is looking forward to producing more music videos for other NZ up and coming bands.

Why a website?

When meeting clients for the first time, I ask a number of questions in order to determine what value a website is to that client. Here are some of the questions I ask.

"Why do you want a website?"

The response varies from a detailed answer, to "Because I should". Interestingly many people don't understand how a website can help them in their business, they just know everyone is doing it!

For me the clients who don't realise the potential are some of the most exciting. There is a world of opportunity just waiting for them.

At it's heart, a website is a communication tool. It is a way of communicating with your customers and potential customers. You may want to communicate your opening hours and location, so that means you need to include that information on your website.

"How do you currently communicate with your clients?"

If you are going to add another communication method to your mix, you need to know how you are currently communicating with your clients and how a website fits in with that. Many clients have no proactive methods for communicating with their clients and so a website is an excellent starting point.

What is your goal for the business?

Everyone has different goals that they want from their business. These can even include goals they don't want other staff to know about such as getting the business ready to sell. It is important to know the end game before starting so the website plan supports the overall business goals.

What do you need right now?

As well as knowing where you want to get to, you also need to know what you actually need right now. The long-terms needs of a business and website needs to be balanced with achieving the immediate business goals. For example if you need to increase sales immediately, and there is an online market waiting for you, an e-commerce solution is one of the first things that should be implemented.

There is no one size fits all.

At Jaijaz we don't believe that one size fits all. We know that every client has individual needs and varying requirements. There are however common needs for all small businesses. Because of this we have developed our modular system so that we can combine the relevant modules to give you a solution that is tailored for you, without having to pay for a bespoke website.

If you would like to find out how a website can help your business, please contact Sarah today on 09 950 3385 or via email.

Source: Why a website?
